Wanda Protects Ancient City Walls in Changsha

Feb 29,2012

The Changsha Kaifu Wanda Plaza in Hunan Province has drafted a plan to preserve a section of ancient city walls discovered at the plaza’s construction site.

According to the plan, an enclosed hall with a glass ceiling will be constructed in the basement of the Kaifu Wanda Plaza to form an underground "Ancient City Museum", with free admission.

After the ancient city walls were discovered in December 2011, Wang Jianlin, Chairman of the Dalian Wanda Group, gave an order to suspend the plaza’s construction until the heritage authorities work out a plan to protect the historical site.

The Wanda Group also adjusted its original construction plan to preserve the historical site, even though the adjustments would significantly raise the difficulty and costs of the plaza’s construction.

In protecting the ancient site, the Dalian Wanda Group has fully demonstrated its corporate social responsibility.
